A Comparative Analysis of Agile and Traditional Project Management Approaches in Engineering Projects

In recent years, the necessity for effective project management methodologies has grown exponentially due to escalating project complexities and stakeholder demands. This paper investigates the comparative effectiveness of Agile and Traditional project management approaches within the engineering sector. Utilizing a mixed-methods research design, we surveyed 300 project managers and conducted in-depth case studies of ten ongoing engineering projects. Our findings indicate that Agile methodologies significantly enhance project flexibility and stakeholder satisfaction, with a 25% improvement in on-time delivery rates compared to Traditional methods. However, Traditional approaches maintain superior resource allocation efficiency, revealing a nuanced balance between flexibility and control. This research contributes to the ongoing discourse on project management optimization, offering valuable insights for practitioners aiming to enhance project outcomes and meet the dynamic needs of the engineering industry.
