Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Articles

Petroleum Engineering Journal considers and publishes the following types of articles:

Empirical Articles – These follow the IMRAD structure and present original research findings based on laboratory experiments, field data, modeling, simulations, or quantitative analyses. Submissions should provide novel interpretations of data relevant to petroleum exploration, drilling, reservoir characterization, production optimization, and environmental impact assessment.

Theoretical Articles – These articles focus on conceptual developments, modeling approaches, and analytical methods in petroleum and energy engineering. They should critically evaluate existing theories, propose innovative models or frameworks, or present advancements in computational and analytical techniques for oil and gas systems.

Review Articles – Comprehensive and critical overviews of current research trends, technologies, and methods in petroleum engineering. These papers should identify gaps in existing knowledge, highlight emerging technologies, and suggest directions for future studies in exploration, production, and sustainable energy transition.

Case Studies – Detailed analyses of real-world industrial projects, engineering applications, or technological solutions. Case studies should present background, methodology, technical challenges, results, and implications for engineering practice and environmental safety.

Content Guidelines

Article Title
Maximum 12 words, centered, in bold uppercase letters.
Presented in English (and optionally in the author’s native language).

Author Information
Include full names, institutional affiliations, official addresses, email contacts, academic degrees, positions, and ORCID IDs.

Abstract
200–300 words, structured and informative, summarizing the objectives, methods, results, and significance of the study. No abbreviations or citations.

Keywords
5–7 relevant terms reflecting the content and scope of the paper. Avoid repeating the title.

Introduction
Outline the importance of the research, global context, and main objectives. Reference 7–10 recent studies (within the last 3–5 years).

Literature Review (Optional)
Summarize existing research and identify knowledge gaps.

Materials and Methods
Describe experimental setups, equipment, modeling techniques, or analytical tools. Ensure reproducibility of results.

Results & Discussion
Present key findings with tables, figures, and statistical or numerical analyses. Discuss implications in comparison with prior research and industrial relevance.

Conclusions
Summarize main outcomes, confirm the research objectives, and suggest directions for future work.

Acknowledgements
Recognize individuals or organizations that contributed to the study. If none, state: “None.”

Funding
Indicate all sources of financial support. If none, state: “This research received no funding.”

Conflicts of Interest
Disclose any potential conflicts. If none, state: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”

References
Use APA 6th Edition (2010). References should be in English, alphabetically ordered, and consistent with in-text citations.
Example: (Smith, 2023).

Tables, Figures, Graphs, and Formulas
Number sequentially and reference in-text. Provide descriptive captions below figures/tables.
Use SI units, clear variable notation (italicized), and formulas formatted with Equation Editor.
