Abstract

The article investigates the role of citizen engagement in the development of smart cities. It explores how participatory planning and digital platforms can enhance inclusivity and responsiveness in urban development. Focusing on case studies from Singapore, Barcelona, and Nairobi, the research highlights strategies for integrating citizen feedback into smart infrastructure projects. Challenges such as data privacy and digital divide are also addressed, alongside solutions for mitigating these issues. By showcasing successful engagement models, the study aims to inform city planners and policy-makers about best practices for fostering active citizenship.
