Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Articles

Journal of Molecular Biology considers and publishes the following types of articles:

Empirical Articles – Structured according to the IMRAD format, presenting original research findings from primary sources such as laboratory experiments, molecular assays, genomic or proteomic analyses, or computational models. Submissions must include original interpretation of the data.

Theoretical Articles – Structure depends on the content. These articles critically analyze existing molecular biology literature and propose new hypotheses, models, or theoretical frameworks that advance understanding in molecular and cellular biology. May include original models, modifications or critiques of existing paradigms, or methodological innovations.

Review Articles – Provide a comprehensive synthesis of research in a particular molecular biology topic, identifying unresolved questions and outlining directions for future studies. Essential for updating the community on recent developments, trends, and achievements in molecular biology.

Case Studies – Describe specific molecular experiments, techniques, or phenomena in detail, analyzing context, methods, outcomes, and implications. Valuable for understanding practical applications and experimental challenges in molecular biology research.

Content Guidelines

Article Title

  • Maximum 12 words, centered, in bold uppercase letters.

  • Presented in English (optionally in the original language of the author).

Author Information

  • Full names, affiliations, addresses, emails, degrees, positions, ORCID IDs.

  • Centered and listed in both English and original language if applicable.

Abstract

  • 200–300 words, structured, informative, without abbreviations or citations.

  • Summarize relevance, objectives, methodology, main findings, practical significance.

  • Professional English translation required.

Keywords

  • 5–7 relevant molecular biology terms or phrases.

  • Avoid general terms and repeating the title.

Introduction

  • Overview of current global status of the molecular biology topic.

  • Cite 7–10 recent studies (last 3–5 years).

  • State relevance, objectives, research tasks, novelty.

  • Use parentheses for references (max 3 sources per citation).

Literature Review (Optional)

  • Present previous molecular biology research findings, cite sources from reference list.

Materials and Methods

  • Describe experimental stages, protocols, tools, sampling, computational models.

  • Should allow replication. Mandatory for empirical and case study articles.

Results & Discussion

  • Present findings with tables, figures, and statistical/computational analyses.

  • Avoid evaluative statements and duplication of table/figure data in text.

  • Discuss results in context of other international research.

  • Must be methodologically sound, novel, and practically relevant.

Conclusions

  • Summarize findings concisely.

  • Align with objectives and title.

  • Indicate directions for future molecular biology research.

Acknowledgements

  • Credit contributors, technical assistance, funding.

  • If none, state: "None."

Funding

  • List financial support.

  • If none, state: "This research received no funding."

Conflicts of Interest

  • Disclose any conflicts affecting objectivity.

  • If none, state: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."

References

  • Cite in-text using parentheses (e.g., (Smith, 2023)).

  • Match author names and publication years with reference list.

  • Max 2 works per author and 2 articles per journal.

  • References in English, alphabetically ordered, APA 6th Edition (2010).

Tables, Figures, Graphs, and Formulas

  • Number and cite in text. Notes under table/figure.

  • Explain abbreviations at first mention.

  • Formulas in Equation Editor; variables italicized.

  • Figures centered; no text wrapping.

  • Use SI units with spaces between numbers, symbols, and units.
