Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
Articles
Journal of Economic Insights considers and publishes the following types of articles:

Empirical Articles – Structured according to the IMRAD format and presenting original quantitative or qualitative research findings. Data sources may include economic indicators, financial reports, surveys, econometric modeling, or statistical databases. Authors must provide original interpretation and policy implications of their findings.

Theoretical Articles – These develop, refine, or challenge economic theories and models. They may include conceptual analyses, new theoretical frameworks, or mathematical derivations that advance understanding of economic systems, decision-making processes, or market behavior.

Review Articles – Comprehensive overviews of a specific economic topic, summarizing existing studies, evaluating methodologies, identifying research gaps, and suggesting directions for future inquiry. These are especially encouraged for rapidly evolving areas such as behavioral economics, digital finance, and sustainable development.

Case Studies – Detailed examinations of economic phenomena, business strategies, market trends, or policy implementations in specific countries or sectors. These articles focus on practical applications and real-world economic implications.

Content Guidelines
Article Title
- Maximum 12 words, centered, in bold uppercase letters.
- Presented in English (and optionally in the original language of the author).
Author Information
- Include full names, institutional affiliations, country, email, academic degree, position, and ORCID ID.
- Centered and listed in both English and the original language if applicable.
Abstract
- 200–300 words, structured, informative, and without abbreviations or citations.
- Summarize research aim, data, methodology, main findings, and implications for policy or practice.
- Professional English translation required.
Keywords
- 5–7 relevant economic or financial terms; avoid overly general expressions.
Introduction
- Explain the relevance of the research topic in the context of global or regional economic trends.
- Reference 7–10 recent studies (last 3–5 years).
- State the research problem, objectives, and originality of the study.
- Use in-text citations in parentheses (max 3 sources per citation).
Methodology
- Describe analytical methods, models, datasets, and statistical tools used.
- Ensure transparency and reproducibility of research.
- Mandatory for empirical and case study articles.
Results & Discussion
- Present empirical results in tables and figures with clear economic interpretation.
- Discuss findings in light of prior research and current economic realities.
- Avoid repeating numerical data in text.
- Highlight practical and policy relevance.
Conclusions
- Summarize the main results, emphasizing contribution to the field.
- Provide clear economic or policy implications.
- Identify limitations and suggest directions for further research.
Acknowledgements
- Credit individuals or organizations for assistance or funding.
- If none, state: “None.”
Funding
- List all sources of financial support.
- If none, state: “This research received no external funding.”
Conflicts of Interest
- Disclose any financial or professional conflicts that might influence results.
- If none, state: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”
References
- Citations in parentheses, e.g. (Smith, 2023).
- All references in English, formatted according to APA 7th Edition (2020).
- Limit to 2 works per author and 2 per journal.
Tables, Figures, Graphs, and Formulas
- Number sequentially and refer to them in text.
- Include explanatory notes and sources.
- Formulas created in Equation Editor; variables italicized.
- Figures centered; no text wrapping.
- Use SI units consistently.
