Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Articles

Chemical Research Letters considers and publishes the following types of articles:

Empirical Articles – Structured according to the IMRAD format, these papers present original research findings derived from experiments, laboratory analyses, chemical syntheses, spectroscopy, or computational simulations. Submissions must include an original interpretation of the experimental or computational data and discuss its relevance to chemical theory or applications.

Theoretical Articles – These works explore conceptual, mechanistic, or computational aspects of chemistry. They critically analyze existing theories, propose new models or reaction mechanisms, or examine the evolution of chemical concepts in contemporary research.

Review Articles – Comprehensive and systematic overviews of specific areas in chemistry. These articles summarize existing scholarship, identify unresolved questions, and outline directions for future research in areas such as materials chemistry, organic synthesis, catalysis, or analytical techniques.

Case Studies – Detailed reports of specific chemical experiments, industrial processes, or methodological innovations. Case studies analyze procedures, conditions, results, and practical implications for research or industrial applications.

Content Guidelines

Article Title

  • Maximum 12 words, centered, in bold uppercase letters.

  • Presented in English (and optionally in the author’s native language).

Author Information

  • Include full names, institutional affiliations, official addresses, email contacts, academic degrees, positions, and ORCID IDs.

  • Centered and listed in both English and the original language if applicable.

Abstract

  • 200–300 words, structured and informative.

  • Should summarize relevance, objectives, methodology, main findings, and practical significance.

  • No abbreviations or citations.

Keywords

  • 5–7 relevant words or phrases, reflecting the article’s content.

  • Avoid repeating words from the title.

Introduction

  • Overview of the current state of chemical research in the relevant field.

  • Reference 7–10 recent studies from the last 3–5 years.

  • State research relevance, objectives, tasks, and novelty.

Literature Review (Optional)

  • Summarize previous research findings and theoretical frameworks.

  • Highlight unresolved questions and knowledge gaps.

Materials and Methods

  • Describe experimental procedures, materials, analytical techniques, instrumentation, and computational methods.

  • Should allow replication by other researchers.

  • Mandatory for empirical and case study articles.

Results & Discussion

  • Present findings with tables, figures, and statistical or computational analyses.

  • Avoid evaluative statements and duplicating data in text.

  • Discuss results in context of previous international research.

  • Findings should be methodologically sound, novel, and practically relevant.

Conclusions

  • Summarize results concisely.

  • Align conclusions with objectives and title.

  • Indicate directions for future chemical research.

Acknowledgements

  • Credit individuals or organizations for technical assistance, ideas, or funding.

  • If none, state: “None.”

Funding

  • List all financial support sources.

  • If none, state: “This research received no funding.”

Conflicts of Interest

  • Disclose potential conflicts of interest.

  • If none, state: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”

References

  • In-text citations: (Smith, 2023).

  • Match author names and years with the reference list.

  • Max 2 works per author and 2 articles per journal.

  • References in English, alphabetically, formatted according to APA 6th Edition (2010).

Tables, Figures, Graphs, and Formulas

  • Number sequentially and cite in text.

  • Provide notes below each table/figure.

  • All abbreviations explained at first mention.

  • Formulas created in Equation Editor; variables italicized.

  • Figures centered; text wrapping disabled.

  • Use SI units with spaces between numbers, symbols, and units.
