Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) presents a significant global health challenge. This study employs a mixed-methods approach to compare the efficacy of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy (PDT) in adults diagnosed with MDD. Quantitative data was gathered from a sample of 300 participants, utilizing standardized outcome measures over a 12-week intervention period. Qualitative interviews provided insights into patient experiences and therapeutic mechanisms. Results indicated CBT outperformed PDT in reducing depressive symptoms, evidenced by a 45% decrease in Beck Depression Inventory scores (p < 0.01), while qualitative analysis revealed that patients from both therapies reported enhanced self-awareness. The findings underscore the importance of integrating empirical evidence with patient-centric approaches in depression treatment. These results contribute to a deeper understanding of therapeutic mechanisms in psychological interventions.
