Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Articles

Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology considers and publishes the following types of articles:

Empirical Articles – Structured according to the IMRAD format, these papers present original research findings derived from experimental studies, behavioral observations, surveys, neuropsychological assessments, or cognitive tasks. Submissions should include analytical interpretation of empirical evidence and its implications for cognitive and behavioral theories or applied practice.

Theoretical Articles – These works explore conceptual, methodological, or philosophical dimensions of psychology. They critically analyze existing models, propose new theoretical frameworks, or examine the evolution of psychological constructs in the context of cognitive, social, and behavioral sciences.

Review Articles – Comprehensive and systematic overviews of specific areas in psychology and behavioral science. Such papers summarize existing scholarship, identify unresolved questions, and outline future research directions in fields such as cognitive psychology, behavioral neuroscience, developmental psychology, or clinical and applied behavioral studies.

Case Studies – Detailed examinations of individual, group, or organizational behaviors, interventions, or experimental scenarios. These studies analyze context, methodology, results, and implications, highlighting lessons for theory development or practical applications in behavioral science.

Content Guidelines

Article Title

  • Maximum 12 words, centered, in bold uppercase letters.

  • Presented in English (and optionally in the author’s native language).

Author Information

  • Include full names, institutional affiliations, official addresses, email contacts, academic degrees, positions, and ORCID IDs.

Abstract

  • 200–300 words, structured and informative.

  • Should summarize relevance, objectives, methods, main findings, and significance of the research.

  • No abbreviations or citations.

Keywords

  • 5–7 relevant terms reflecting the article’s content.

  • Avoid repeating words from the title.

Introduction

  • Present the general context, background, and objectives of the study.

  • Reference 7–10 recent sources (from the last 3–5 years).

  • Clearly define research novelty and relevance.

Literature Review (Optional)

  • Summarize prior research findings and theoretical frameworks relevant to the topic.

  • Highlight existing debates or gaps in the field.

Materials and Methods

  • Describe methodology, data sources, experimental or survey design, sampling strategies, and analytical approaches.

  • Should allow replication of the study by other researchers.

Results & Discussion

  • Present main results with tables, figures, or structured argumentation.

  • Discuss implications of findings in relation to existing literature and psychological theory.

Conclusions

  • Provide a concise summary of results.

  • Align conclusions with the objectives and research questions.

  • Suggest possible directions for further investigation.

Acknowledgements

  • Mention individuals or organizations who contributed to the research.

  • If none, state: “None.”

Funding

  • List all funding sources.

  • If none, state: “This research received no funding.”

Conflicts of Interest

  • Declare any potential conflicts.

  • If none, state: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”

References

  • In-text citations should follow the format (Smith, 2023).

  • All references must be listed alphabetically, formatted according to APA 6th Edition (2010).

  • Only English-language sources or translated equivalents should be included.

Tables, Figures, Graphs, and Formulas

  • Number sequentially and cite within the text.

  • Provide clear captions and notes below each table/figure.

  • Figures and tables must be centered, with text wrapping disabled.

  • Use consistent SI units and standard psychological abbreviations.
