Abstract

Anxiety disorders represent a significant global concern, affecting millions and contributing to heightened economic burdens. This study investigates the efficacy of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy (PDT) through a meta-analytic framework. Using a sample of 1,500 individuals across various clinical settings, we utilized rigorous inclusion criteria to select randomized controlled trials from 2010 to 2023. Employing the Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software (version 3.3), we synthesized effect sizes, applying a random-effects model to account for heterogeneity. Results indicate that CBT demonstrates a statistically significant greater reduction in anxiety symptomology (d = 0.65, p < 0.01) compared to PDT. Additionally, moderator analyses suggest that CBT's effectiveness is amplified in younger populations. These findings have profound implications for therapeutic decision-making in clinical psychology, advocating for a shift towards evidence-based practices.
