Economic Inequality and Its Effects on Social Mobility

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between economic inequality and social mobility. Utilizing data from multiple OECD countries, the research investigates how disparities in wealth and income influence individuals' ability to move within social strata. Findings suggest that higher inequality correlates with reduced social mobility, perpetuating cycles of poverty. The study offers policy recommendations aimed at reducing inequality to enhance opportunities for upward mobility.
