Code-Switching as a Strategy for Bilingual Education

Abstract

This paper examines the role of code-switching in bilingual education settings, exploring how it serves as a pedagogical strategy to enhance learning. Focusing on educational contexts in Europe and North America, we analyze instances of code-switching among students and teachers, highlighting its impact on cognitive and linguistic development. Our study utilizes classroom observations and interviews with educators to assess the benefits and challenges of code-switching in educational environments. The findings provide evidence of its effectiveness in promoting bilingual proficiency and cultural understanding.
