Preservation of Endangered Indigenous Languages in the Amazon

Abstract

This study addresses the critical issue of preserving endangered indigenous languages in the Amazon rainforest. Employing ethnographic methods and participatory action research, the article explores effective strategies for documenting and revitalizing these languages. The research highlights the role of indigenous communities in language preservation and the impact of external influences such as globalization and deforestation. The findings underscore the importance of collaboration between linguists and indigenous leaders in developing sustainable language preservation programs. This work calls for urgent action to protect linguistic diversity as a vital component of cultural heritage.
