Abstract

This paper explores the integration of renewable energy sources in rail transport systems worldwide. By evaluating projects in Europe, Asia, and North America, the research examines the technical and economic feasibility of transitioning rail networks to sustainable power sources such as solar and wind energy. The study highlights successful implementations and the associated reductions in carbon emissions, energy costs, and environmental impacts. It also discusses the challenges and opportunities for scaling up renewable energy use in the rail sector. Concluding with policy recommendations, the paper outlines pathways to achieving more sustainable rail transport.
