Abstract

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) play a pivotal role in enhancing road safety, particularly in urban settings where traffic congestion and accident rates are escalating. This study employs a quantitative methodology to assess the impact of various ITS implementations, including adaptive traffic signals, real-time traffic monitoring, and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication. Utilizing a dataset comprising urban traffic flow patterns and accident reports from several metropolitan areas, we apply advanced statistical analyses to evaluate the relationship between ITS deployment and road safety outcomes. Our results indicate a significant reduction in accident rates by up to 25% in areas with comprehensive ITS solutions, highlighting the necessity for municipalities to invest in these technologies. This research contributes to the ongoing discourse on urban mobility and provides empirical evidence that could guide future policy decisions regarding transportation infrastructure investments.
