Optimization of Temporary Dental Materials for Enhanced Clinical Efficacy: Addressing the Shortcomings in Conventional Dental Practices

Abstract

The utilization of temporary dental materials is paramount in restorative dentistry, yet clinical inefficacies often result from suboptimal material properties. This study investigates the mechanical performance and biocompatibility of various temporary materials, including polymethyl methacrylate and composite resins, under simulated intraoral conditions. Employing a dual approach of quantitative tensile strength measurements and qualitative surface analysis via scanning electron microscopy (SEM), we demonstrated superior performance of a newly formulated resin composite compared to conventional materials. Results indicated a 30% improvement in tensile strength (p < 0.001) and enhanced biocompatibility attributes, suggesting a promising alternative for clinical applications. This research underscores the necessity for innovative solutions in temporary material selection, paving the way for improved patient outcomes in dental practices.
