Abstract

The increasing prevalence of dental infections necessitates the development of materials with enhanced antimicrobial properties. This study examines the effectiveness of novel bioactive dental materials compared to traditional composites in inhibiting bacterial growth. Utilizing a quantitative experimental design, we conducted in vitro tests on three groups: a control (traditional composites), a test group with bioactive materials, and a combined group. Statistical analysis revealed that bioactive materials exhibited a 40% greater inhibition of Streptococcus mutans compared to traditional options (p<0.01). Furthermore, surface analysis using scanning electron microscopy indicated a significant reduction in biofilm formation on bioactive surfaces. These findings highlight the potential of bioactive materials as a superior alternative for dental restorations, providing critical insights into future material development in dentistry.
