Abstract

Osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) poses a significant issue in dental practice, notably among patients receiving bisphosphonates. This study investigates advanced diagnostic imaging methodologies to enhance early detection and intervention strategies. Employing a cohort of 150 patients with varying degrees of ONJ, we utilized high-resolution cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) alongside magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to evaluate jaw necrosis characteristics. Qualitative assessments were complemented by quantitative measurements of bone turnover markers in the serum. Findings revealed that the combination of CBCT and MRI improved diagnostic accuracy by 35% compared to conventional imaging techniques. These results underscore the potential for these methodologies to redefine early intervention protocols in dentistry, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
