A Paradigm Shift in Diagnostic Biomarkers: Re-evaluating Circulating Tumor DNA’s Role in Precision Oncology

Abstract

Recent advancements in molecular oncology have unveiled the diagnostic potential of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), yet the clinical application remains inadequately explored. This study employs a multicentric approach, analyzing ctDNA from a cohort of 300 patients with various malignancies. Our findings reveal a significant correlation (p < 0.01) between ctDNA alterations and patient outcomes, including treatment response and survival rates. Specifically, we observed a 45% increase in detection rates of mutations compared to traditional tissue biopsies. These results underscore ctDNA's potential as a minimally invasive biomarker, calling for its integration into routine clinical practice to enhance individualized treatment strategies.
